Fold IrelandMichael Finneran T. D., Minister for Housing and Local Services and Eamonn Maloney, Mayor of South Dublin County Council, officially opened Fold Ireland’s first Sheltered Housing scheme at New Seskin Court, Tallaght, Dublin, 24.

This innovative project is the culmination of a partnership between Fold Ireland Housing Association Ltd. South Dublin County Council and Trustus.

This development which was funded by the Department of Environment Heritage and Local Government together with South Dublin County Council, provides independent living in a social housing scheme, incorporating assistive technology backed up by a 24 hour TeleCare call centre that provides a real sense of security and confidence for older people and people living on their own.

Residents at New Seskin Court, live in self-contained apartments spread across five floors.  This Housing model of accommodation ensures that older people and people living alone are given the opportunity to live independent lives within a safe, secure and supportive environment.

The Minsiter Michael Finneran commented,“By working together, the various agencies and bodies involved here have shown what can be achieved when we all work towards the same goal. In the past 3 years almost €430 million has been provided through the CAS system, assisting the voluntary sector to make a huge difference to the lives of many people.”

Fold IrelandThe Mayor of South Dublin City Council, Councillor Eamonn Maloney commented, “South Dublin County Council is proud to have supported this innovative scheme in association with Fold Ireland Housing Association Ltd., and Trustus which not only provides a high standard of living accommodation to tenants but does so in a highly supportive environment. Its communal facilities provide not only for the tenants of the 35 apartments but extend out also to the elderly population of the Tallaght area through the work of Trustus, in association with the HSE, in providing necessary support services in a central, safe and comfortable environment. It is a truly holistic, inter-agency approach between central and local government and the voluntary housing and voluntary sector to providing for the accommodation, nurture and health of older people in our community of which we can all be very proud”

New Seskin Court combines good quality accommodation supported by Fold’s TeleCare system, allowing residents to enjoy greater independence and peace of mind. We are proud to have partnered with South Dublin County Council and Trustus, on this landmark scheme. New Seskin Court provides 35 apartments with on site day services, meals and a full schedule of social events and activities.

Day Care Services

Trustus provides Day Care services on the premises for people within this development together with older people who live in the local community and surrounding area.

Day Care represents a vital link between local people living on their own or being cared for at home, and the wider community. It provides an opportunity for social interaction, stimulation and access to a broad range of activities, social events and hands-on care.
